Nathaniel Hayward papers, 1840-1878.

Primarily correspondence of Nathaniel Hayward of the Hayward Rubber Company in Colchester, Connecticut. Hayward received letters from rubber magnate Charles Goodyear, Horace Day, and John Hayes. A couple of interesting letters relate to Hayward's attempt to locate his brother, Martin, in Providence, Rhode Island. Several letters relate to Hayward's struggle to get a patent and subsequent law suits.
